It’s been quite a while around 6 months (since, Feb 2nd 2016), VCAP6 beta design certification exams (Beta version) were available only.
Most of the people who intended to take GA were planning/preparing/waiting (Assumptions) for the GA of VCAP6 certification release.
The wait is over now !
VMware has announced GA version of VCAP6 certifications exams release yesterday (21st July’16) for two certifications.
For two different paths (tracks), two certification exams are available now which are mentioned below:
Track 1: Data Center Virtualization
Track 2: Cloud management and Automation:
How many tracks?
Back to Track 1 and Track 2 certifications,
#1. You should hold an active VMware certified professional – Data Center virtualization (VCP6-DCV) Certificate before you take VCAP6 exam.
#2. If you hold VCAP5-DCV and active VCP/Expired VCP, you can take VCAP6-DCV certification. Rest of the cases, you have to go through the path which I mentioned in 1st point.
#1. You should hold an active VMware certified professional – Cloud Management and Automation (VCP6-CMA) certificate before you take VCAP-CMA
Each individual certification exams cost you $400 USD.
And, if you want to go to next level after advance level certification in any track, you should achieve one more certification in respective track which is deployment level(VCAP6-DCV deployment for DCV track, VCAP6-CMA deployment for CMA track , similarly for other two tracks as well)
If you achieve both the certifications (VCAP6 deployment + VCAP6 design) in any track except NV track ( NV – Network Virtualization), you can earn VMware Certified implementation Expert (VCIX) certificate. For NV track, you need to clear only one exam (as of now) to earn VCIX-NV (which include VMware NV deployment topics) certificate.
